Mr R. Edwards BVM&S MRCVS qualified from Edinburgh University in 1999. Since then, he has spent his time working in mixed practice in Llansantffraid, where he has developed a keen interest in Farm Animal Practice. As dairy farmer himself, he has played a key role in the implementation of our Farm Animal Preventative Herd Health strategy. Mr Edwards is one of the Large Animal Clinical Directors, and is responsible for overseeing the Dairy Farm Practice Policy and Herd Health Schemes..
Mr H.I. Williamson BVM&S MRCVS qualified from Edinburgh University in 1980. Since then, he has worked in both small animal and mixed practices in the UK, where he developed an interest in Farm Animal Practice. He now oversees the Sheep and Beef Farm side of the practice. Mr Williamson is one of the Large Animal Clinical Directors.
Mr Overend BVMS MRCVS is the Small Animal Clinical Director at Cain Veterinary Centre. He qualified from Glasgow University in 1990, and spent the next 10 years in mixed veterinary practice in mid-Wales, eventually taking on a partnership. He then spent time as an adviser to a veterinary pharmaceutical company, where he developed a keen interest in Cardiology. Mr Overend then moved back into Small Animal Practice in Shrewsbury, where he completed a 12 month course in Cardiology, before joining Cain Veterinary Centre as their small animal vet. Currently, he is studying for a further qualification in veterinary cardiology, but is also interested in veterinary diagnostic imaging, orthopaedic and soft-tissue surgery.
Veterinary Assistants
Dave Armstrong BVM&S MRCVS qualified from Edinburgh in 2004, since then he has been working in mixed practice in North Wales. Dave has a very keen interest in the productivity of farm animals and enjoys all aspects of herd and flock health. He is working towards a further qualification in sheep health and productivity. Dave enjoys playing almost all sports and having played representative rugby, unfortunately remains an England fan.
Martin Peat BVet Med MRCVS qualified from the RVC, London in July 2006, and is from a Beef and Sheep farming background in Barnard Castle, County Durham. He has a keen interest in hill walking. Martins role in the practice is mainly Large Animal, although both he and Dave also contribute to the ever increasing small animal caseload in our practice.
